Risk appetite

The amount and type of risk an organisation is willing to take in pursuit of its objectives.

Risk appetite is a board level statement of how much risk the organisation is prepared to accept, expressed through limits and thresholds across credit, market, liquidity and operational risk.

It turns strategy into concrete boundaries for the business, and it is the reference point against which actual risk taking is monitored.
